OKLAHOMA CITY (KSWO) — As 2026 begins, the Oklahoma Department of Corrections is highlighting 2025 events that will help shape the new year. The department purchased Lawton Correctional Facility from the GEO Group. The facility is now known as Red Rock Correctional.

ODOC seizes millions in contraband during 2025
The Oklahoma Department of Corrections seized millions of dollars in contraband during 2025 as part of ongoing efforts to protect staff, inmates and the public and to disrupt illegal activity inside state correctional facilities. OKLAHOMA CITY — As the Legislature enacted tougher sentencing laws, Oklahoma’s prison population increased for a third consecutive year in 2025. The Department of Corrections reported a population of 23,498 on Dec. 22, including pending county jail transfers. That’s a 1.7% uptick from December 2024, when 23,109 people were under the agency’s jurisdiction.
